Two Run Seventh Lifts Raiders Over Sabers

A late surge of offense lifted the Raiders to their first win of the season.

On a sunny Monday afternoon, Susquehanna traveled to Blue Ridge in the first league games of the year. Jake Decker pitched seven shutout innings with twelve strikeouts and allowed only three hits for the Raiders. Austin Felter got the loss for the Sabers; he went six innings with 5 walks, 6 strikeouts, and no hits allowed. Kalieb Scheideler and Nick Folk had the only two hits and RBI’s for the Raiders with one each. Austin Felter had a double for the Sabers to lead off the sixth inning, but was stranded in the Sabers closest opportunity to score.

 

SOFTBALL

The Lady Raiders had a tough first outing again the Lady Sabers. Callie Wyatt gave up fourteen runs, eight earned, with five walks and seven strikeouts for the Lady Raiders. Brittany Burlingame pitched five innings, allowing only two runs and seven strikeouts to pick up the win against the Lady Raiders. Brooke Marvin, Taylor Bronson, and Rebekah Bayle all had two hits for the Lady Raiders. The Lady Sabers totaled eighteen hits, four of which came from Brittany Burlingame.

 

TRACK AND FIELD

Men’s Track and Field lost 81-68 against Montrose on Thursday. The following events were won by Blue Ridge athletes:

  • 100: Craig Stanley (11.5s)
  • 400 Relay: Stanley, Conrad, Jesse, Conklin (47.7s)
  • 300 Hurdles: Allen Weed (44.4s)
  • Shot: Wes Richardson (41’ 1”)
  • Discus: Brett Hepler (127’ 8”)
  • Javelin: Brett Hepler (148’ 9”)
  • Triple: Craig Stanley (38’ 5”)

Girls Track and Field broke Montrose’s 14 meet win streak by beating the Lady Meteors 87-63, giving the Lady Raiders a divisional win and a 2-1 overall record. Events were won by the following:

  • 3200 Relay: Whitney, Penny, MacConnell, Purdum (11:58)
  • 100 Hurdles: Lindsey Rupakus (16.14s)                                            SCHOOL RECORD
