Artist Spotlight: Kaden Winter, BR senior
The unraveling of Macbeth in the Shakespearean play, The Tragedy of Macbeth, has inspired numerous literary works, but Winter’s painting of the fallen king, full of beautiful colors with patchworked façade, stands out as an authentic tribute.
Winter says he worked with acrylics and marker to produce The Tearful King.
“This is made with acrylic paint with a base layer of sharpie I used to guide myself along.”
Winter’s work, he says, was inspired by his English class’s reading of the play.
“The king in the frame has clearly seen better days. I came up with this while our class was reading Macbeth. I wanted to give him a sickly, unraveled, stressed-out look.”
Artists don’t always have a purposeful message, Winter says.
“There is no real intended moral or theme to this, it came from the heart and was influenced by how I was feeling at the time.”
