The All New Athletic Training Room

By: Dylan Stone/Sophomore Writer

As you may know, over the summer break there were many new changes to our school. We all know about the bigger things such as the no backpack rule, the new security officer, a new gym teacher, and even a new athletic director, but another change in our school that has gone relatively unnoticed is the new Athletic Training (AT) room. The new AT room is meant for sports such as basketball, soccer, and volleyball.

I asked Scott Summers, the new athletic director, a few questions about the new AT room and he happily obliged. When asked about some negatives of the new addition, Mr.Summers replied that the only negative thing might be that it is a little small and is still under construction. He also had many good things to say about the room such as;  it has treatment tables, taping tables, ice, and is fully stocked, which helps save a trip to the hospital. Another perk of the AT room is that it can also help prevent injuries from happening in the first place.

For people such as myself that don’t participate in school sports, I wouldn’t know about the use of the AT room and how frequently it would be used. With me being so oblivious to the use, I had to ask,

“Do you think the AT room will get used?”

I was surprised when he replied, “Yes, it’s actually already been used a few times so far.”

What I’ve gathered from my conversation with the new Athletic Director was that overall, the new AT room is a great new thing for sports and will help out a lot.
