BR senior Stephanie Smith was a finalist for Artsonia Artist of the Week for the week of October 2 through October 8, 2022 for her ceramic pinch pot.
Smith was nominated after she posted a picture of her pinchpot on the website. Artsonia. The pinchpot was her first art project this school year.
Artsonia is the world’s largest collection of student art, published by teachers and students from around the world.
Blue Ridge art students upload pictures of their artwork into online portfolios on the site.
Parents and family can view the art online, leave comments and order keepsakes featuring the artwork.
According to the website, “Artsonia inspires students and promotes the sharing of art with its weekly Artist of the Week campaign.”
The general public helps pick the best artwork submitted each week by casting online votes. For this past week, Smith was one of 12 finalists.
Smith says she was surprised by last week’s nomination: “I didn’t expect my little project to be picked.”
She says she appreciates the support from people at school.
“Mr. Orner came up to me and told me he voted on my project. Kierra Andusko also told me she saw how I was chosen and that she voted for me.”
Of her project, Smith says, ” I really liked the color of the glaze I used. ”
