Senior Feature: Malaki Upright

By: Reese Allen/Content Editor

” I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious.”- Albert Einstein

Malaki Upright, a senior at Blue Ridge is planning on attending Johnson college for computer informational technology(CIT). Upright chose this path because he enjoys electronics and he knew that he would love his job for the rest of his life. In ten years, Upright could see himself moving out west and pursuing a job with technology.

Upright has participated in a few school musicals and he couldn’t be more grateful for the family that he made throughout them. Band has been one of the bigger parts of his life since sixth grade, and he has to give all of that thanks to Mr. Lorusso.

He says, “Without Mr. Lorusso band wouldn’t be the same and I can’t imagine my life without it.” Upright plays the saxophone in band and is hoping to continue his career of playing the saxophone out of high school.

Upright is excited for the next chapter in his life because high school wasn’t his favorite, but he knows that this next chapter of his life is going to be different. His advice to underclassmen would be, “Always be making friends, it will make school so much fun and more enjoyable.”
