The best thing about the future is that it only comes one day at a time”- Abraham Lincoln

When senior Jenna McCarthy leaves Blue Ridge, she says she’ll be headed off to study science and possibly own and work in a pediatric office.

For now, though, McCarthy’s thoughts are consumed about the here and now. “I think about the sports team I am managing, and the annual community service hours I still need to complete.”

“I really believe,” she says, “that after high school the stakes will be higher, but my stress levels won’t be as intense.”

During her time at Blue Ridge, McCarthy participated in both volleyball and softball (sophomore through senior years); was the girls’ high school basketball manager (senior and junior years);  and held officer positions in both Leo Club (president, junior and senior years);  and FBLA (secretary, senior year).

McCarthy says her advice to underclassmen is: “Trust your teachers rather than fearing them. They put you in these situations to prepare and push you.”
