Senior Emily Phillips’s Blue Ridge high school career is soon coming to an end, but she’s already focusing on her future. She plans to attend Kutztown University, majoring in elementary education. Phillips is still unsure if she wants to participate in any clubs or sports, but did say “It’d be cool to be in a club related to my major, but will see what happens.” She anticipates that compared to high school, the next few years will be “Harder with the workload, but exciting since I’m starting the next chapter of my life!”
During her time at Blue Ridge, Phillips kept herself busy by being an active member of the Leo Club for 4 years. Within the Leo Club, she helped with various Christmas Bazaars (helping the kid’s Christmas shop within this event), Veterans Day assemblies/breakfasts, food pantries, and Thanksgiving Feasts for the staff.
Phillips says that her dream job would to either be an elementary or special needs teacher. “I find happiness in being able to help kids and also watching them grow as the year’s pass.”
When asked what advice she’d give to underclassmen, Phillips said: “Slow down. Enjoy your childhood, and make the most out of your high school experience.”
