On Tuesday, October 18 at 5 p.m. the Blue Ridge Lady Raiders Volleyball Team will be facing off with the Western Wayne Wildcats at home for the annual Pink Out game.
The Pink Out game is held to help support and spread awareness of breast cancer. Funds are raised through sponsorships from local businesses, T-shirts sales and ticket sales for the girls’ game.
Breast cancer effects many families in the BR community, and spectators typically show support by wearing the Pink Out teeshirt to the game.
Volleyball coach Katherine Heeman says,”The pink out game is a long standing tradition for the volleyball team. We love to pack the stands with pink to show our support for breast cancer.”
As in years past, BR students and staff are scheduled to wear their Pink Out teeshirts to school on game day.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The CDC states that about 264,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.
