One Counselor Down (temporarily)

By: Peyton Gelinger/Sophomore Writer

Blue Ridge High School is usually staffed with two guidance counselors, but this year one has gone missing! Mrs. Shauna Williams, set to return November 11th, has taken maternity leave to spend time with her new baby. Normally, the high school students are divided between Williams and Mrs. Paula Finn. However, with no substitute in for Williams, Finn has taken the entire student body under her wing.

Williams will not be back until November. In the meantime, Finn is responsible for all of the high school students. However, Mrs. Dawn McHale, the middle school guidance counselor, has been helping Finn out in any way she can.

When asked if the task of taking on the entire high school student body was stressful, Finn simply said no.

She stated, “It is busier, but I like my job, and I still want to be here for students for whatever they need. Whether it be schedule changes or if  someone just wants to talk. It may take a little bit for me to get back to you, but I am here to help.”, states Finn.

For everyone that loves Mrs. Williams, do not worry. It will not be long before she will be back.
