Blue Ridge MS/HS has added a jaw dropping 12 new employees this year plus many more in the Elementary and this week we interviewed one of them. Erin Brown is the new seventh and eighth grade science teacher. She didn’t always plan to be a teacher. It was when she was working as a naturalist at a state park that she realized she was interested in teaching. Brown attended Kutztown University for her teaching degree then went on to work for Springhouse Middle School in Allentown Pa. Before moving here and going back to teaching she worked as a director of education at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary. At one point in time Brown also worked for the bureau of state parks as an environmental education specialist.
We asked her why she chose Blue Ridge? She stated she wanted to teach in a rural school within a community close to home.
We also asked Brown, how the students have impacted her thoughts of Blue Ridge. She explained that the students were very friendly and made her feel welcome. Brown acknowledged that her students were very curious about who she was, where she came from and why she was here.
