Blue Ridge senior Connor Cranage broke the school’s career point record formerly held by Sawyer Dearborn when he scored his 1,334th point against the Montrose Meteors at the Susquehanna Community Foundation Tournament on Saturday, December 27, 2023. Dearborn scored 1,295 career points while a student at Blue Ridge High School.
Connor Cranage’s Thoughts
Setting a new record is not a minor accomplishment. Connor was asked how he feels with his new title as all-time highest scorer for boys basketball at Blue Ridge High School.
“It feels great knowing all my hard work is paying off. I’m happy that I’m blessed enough to be able to leave a mark on our school,” he said.
To many Connor is an inspiration for kids aiming to be the best they can. He was also asked about all the hard work and time he put in to get to this point.
He stated, “I spent many summers training and traveling to practices and tournaments to get better– I also start with early morning trainings each day.”
With the season just kicking off, Cranage has a few goals he wishes to accomplish before it ends such as:
- Reach 1,700 points
- Win the league championship
- Win the district championship
- Make the final four for states
Coach Wes Park’s Statement
Wes Parks is the boys basketball coach and the one that conditions them to be the best when they step out on the court. Parks was asked what it was like to have a player like Connor Cranage on his team.
“It has been an honor coaching Cranage and his teammates. Connor’s work ethic and dedication has helped him get to where he is today. Connor has been a great role model and leader in the gym and classroom. I couldn’t ask for anything better. Hashtag, we love New Milford,” he said.
