BR junior Libby Zick crossed the 1000 career assist milestone on September 29, 2022, making her the first Blue Ridge High School volleyball player to do so.
Zick, who is the center for the Blue Ridge High School girls volleyball team, says she has been playing volleyball competitively since middle school but has been around volleyball her whole life. In fact her mother is the high school team’s coach.
Zick says, “It is an amazing experience to share with her, she is my biggest supporter and the best coach. I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
Zick says she didn’t know that she was close to 1000 assists until right before the game against Forest City started. Her teammates, coaches, and parents had kept it from her.
“I found out before the game that I only needed three assists to reach 1000.”
Zick has one more year of high school volleyball to look forward to.
“I think we will be just as successful. We will have to still work very hard to keep our legacy going.”
Zick hopes to play volleyball in college and says: “I will get there by improving each practice, as well as playing AAU volleyball in the winter.”
