Hats for a Cause!

By: Kaelin Hughes / Junior Writer

On Friday, October 19th, Leo Club hosted a Hat Day in order to raise money for the Susquehanna High School students involved in the shattering accident on October 12th.

Students were to pay one dollar or more to their homeroom teachers to wear a hat for the entirety of the day.

“I thought it was a very nice thing to do for the students,” says Leo Club member Makenzie Cook. “Since everyone likes hat day, it was a really easy way to raise money for the Susquehanna students.”

According to Leo Club advisor Kristen Latting: “There was an outpouring of support for our neighboring school. Our students immediately wanted to do something to help their friends–and they did. I am not done counting the money yet, but I believe our students were generous. I am very proud of them.”

Blue Ridge continues to help support the Susquehanna High School community, for Student Council is selling ‘Susquehanna Sabers Strong’ shirts to raise more money for the students, and show that “Raiders got their backs”!

To purchase a shirt, which is $12, see any student council member, they’ll have an order sheet with a preview of the design. All orders are due by October 26th.
