Girls Sports Hairstyles at BR

By: Kate Scott/Freshman Writer and Madison Makosky/Junior Writer

Spring sports officially began on Monday, March 6, keeping school athletes very busy. As an athlete myself,  I know that something as minor as hair can affect performance.

Junior Madison Makosky and I both play softball for the Raiders. We decided to ask a handful of Lady Raider athletes about their game hairstyles and why they wear them.

Junior Abigail Laude says, “I have to look good to play good–and I do the same hairstyle every game because of superstition.”

Laude does two Dutch braids with a bubble braid to connect them. To add a pop of color she wears red, white, and black ribbon tied in a bow.

Laude is also the team’s unofficial hair dresser.

“Abby does my hair, and I really like what she does,” says junior Leigha McCain.

“I like to have my hair out of my face and I am a very superstitious person, so I wear my hair the same way every time. Abby knows just what to do.”

McCain wears two Dutch braids connected by a low pony tail and red, white, and black ribbon.
