Girls Basketball is Around the Corner

With the fall season just beginning, Blue Ridge is one more step closer to the Lady Raiders basketball season.

The girls on the varsity team are excited to get started.

BR senior Hanna McCarthy states, “I’m really excited for this upcoming season with it being my final season.”

This season is very important to her since it is her last. She is aiming to have the best season with her favorite girls. To McCarthy, winning isn’t important. What’s important is having fun.

The coach, Michael Courtright, says, “We really turned a corner as a program last year. Finishing strong, going 8-3 including that dramatic victory over Old Forge and big win at home over Elk Lake. Luckily, we have most of our team back this year, including the addition of some athletic freshmen joining the squad. These girls have created an excitement around the program that we haven’t had in quite some time. That’s a testament to their work ethic and belief in themselves. I’m looking forward to getting back in the gym and working toward bigger goals this season.”

Courtright says he is more than excited to be coaching once again this season.

“I look forward to seeing the girls grow together as a team and as individuals.”

The schedule is already posted on the Blue Ridge website! Visit this link to check out when and where games are at:
