Going into the art field can be considered very challenging, but it’s really not as bad as it’s cracked up to be. If you’ve been considering going into the art field, you’ve probably heard the term “starving artist”. Don’t be afraid of that word, because that’s not always your future, there are so many different careers that are considered art related. One of the most popular misconceptions when it comes to artistic professions is that you won’t be able to find a job, or that in order to make a living off of being an artist you have to be lucky.
Here are just a few of the multiple artistic professions available:
Art Therapy- A form of expressive therapy that uses the creative process of making art to improve a person’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
This career is for the people that like people! It’s beneficial to both you and your patient, and you still have the ability to create works of art.
Are you a history buff? Try looking at the career “Art Historian”, where you learn the basics of where art came from, and are able to teach it to other people.
As you may know, advertising makes a pretty big chunk of our society. With ads placed on YouTube, Facebook, TV, etc. getting a career in advertising is a good way to spread your artistic wings. Getting into the graphic design field is a good way to do this.
There are so many other fields that you are able to get into with numerous art degrees. Put yourself out there, take some classes, and your guaranteed to glide past the stereotype of the “starving artist”.
