Carly Corbin is the newest addition to the BR Guidance Office.
She works with high school students grades 9-12 on scheduling classes and with college and career preparation. Additionally, she meets with students individually and in groups to help meet their social and emotional learning needs.
Corbin says, “I chose to be a school counselor because I enjoy helping kids. Mental and behavioral health is important to me; and helping students with their challenges and helping them heal from past events is something that I am passionate about. I have worked with elementary-age students, so this is my first year as a high school counselor, and I am enjoying it so far.”
Corbin formerly worked for the Youth Advocacy Program (YAP) in New Milford, PA which services the Blue Ridge Elementary School.
Of working for Blue Ridge School District, Corbin says, “Blue Ridge has a sense of family and cohesion. I have really enjoyed being here in the past and I am so excited to be here now and for the future.”
According to Corbin outside of school she “loves to spend time with family, read books, do crosswords, clean, and spend time outside.”
Corbin lives in Brooklyn, PA and is married to David Corbin, a teacher at Montrose High School. The two have a daughter, and are expecting the birth of a son in December.
Corbin attended Penn State for her undergraduate work and New York University for a master’s degree in School Counseling and Guidance.
