Butterfly Mural

By: Kayla Blaisure/ Junior Writer

The art department in the Blue Ridge School District has been putting together a butterfly mural since early 2020. The mural is in honor of Rachel Upright, a former Blue Ridge High School student who passed early in the summer of 2019. Rachel’s friends, family, and others with connections to Rachel wanted to come together to make something beautiful to represent her. Each piece of the painting holds a different meaning to each person and their relationship with her. It is undecided where the mural will be placed within the school, but it will be up by the end of May.
