Bridgewater’s SHOUT OUT to BR Teachers

By: Emma Davis/Editor-in-Chief

Bridgewater Church presented each BRSD teacher with a thank you note, a bag of supplies and a Dunkin’ Donuts gift certificate on Wednesday, Feb. 21.

Once a year the Bridgewater Church sends blue bags to the Blue Ridge School District’s teachers as a thank you and as an acknowledgement of all of their hard work throughout the school year. This year’s bags contain sticky notes, markers, tissues, Lysol wipes, and a handwritten card with a Dunkin Donuts gift card.

BR English-history teacher Katie Bailey says, “I really appreciate the support and supplies that we often have to pay for out-of-pocket.”

Emotional support teacher Jen Phillips of the BR Middle School says those blue bags come at the perfect time.

“I’m very grateful. Those bags come just when we are running out of supplies.”

Michelle Masters, sixth grade history, says she feels excitement at the the sight of the blue bags.

“I love that blue bag. I know I can make it through another month with the supplies they send. And, who doesn’t love Dunkin’?”

Seventh grade history teacher Matt Markarian says the act of kindness from Bridgewater is uplifting.

“It feels really good to have support from the community, to feel appreciated; and it’s always nice to have extra supplies.”

Bridgewater has been sending blue bag gift bags to BRSD teachers since 2016.
