BR Students to Showcase Artwork at 2nd Annual Susquehanna County Art Exhibit

By: Brooke Kelly/Junior Writer

The second annual Susquehanna County High School Student Art Exhibit opening reception will be held on Friday, March 14, 2024 at the Slanted Art Cooperative Gallery, 158 Church St, Montrose, PA 18801.

Students from the Blue Ridge School District will join students from other Susquehanna County schools (with the exception of Mountain View School District) to display their artistic talents in various categories. Awards will be given for each category and exhibit attendees will decide on the recipient of the People’s Choice Award.

According to the Blue Ridge High School art teacher, Sarrah Dibble-Camburn, “This benefits students who show their work at an exhibit. They will meet other artists and make valuable connections.”

This year’s Blue Ridge student participants were chosen by their art teacher, Sarrah Dibble-Camburn, and include Ethan Ashley (12); Isaiah Torres (12); Hannah Bednarz (11); Janna Weed (11);  Scarlett Osterhout (10); Reese Sauer (10); Payton Perrington (9); Madison Soden (9) and Selah Lane (7).

Students art will be on display through Thursday, April 11.

“Overall students gain recognition of their had work and talent. Just as a musician holds a concert or performance, an artist can also share their work to an audience through an exhibit or art show,” says Camburn.

This annual event is a collaborative project of Susquehanna County High School art teachers, Slanted Art Cooperative Gallery and The Reimel Centre.
Sarrah Camburn adds, “students may have an opportunity to sell artwork.”
