BR Students Love Holiday Tradition

By: Grace Graf/Co-Editor-In-Chief

It’s that time of year when people think about why the holidays are an important part of life, whether they just like holiday seasons or because they have family traditions that means a lot to them.

Nick Marvin a freshmen says his favorite holiday is Christmas.

It’s his favorite holiday because of “the snow,” and, he says: “I also love giving gifts.”

His favorite Christmas tradition, he says, is planning his family’s annual trip to Florida.

Freshman Layla Sinnett doesn’t have just one favorite holiday. She says her favorite holidays are Christmas and Halloween.

Christmas, though, is one of her favorites because of “the music, decorations, and food.”

Sinnett’s favorite Christmas tradition is “decorating the tree, and putting lights up.”

Yet, Halloween is also one of Sinnett’s favorite because of “the decorations, movies, and people.”

Her favorite Halloween tradition is walking around town.

BR senior Breanna Paterno says Christmas is her favorite holiday and this is because she “loves the music, decorations, presents (giving and receiving), and, of course, the lights.”

Her favorite tradition is seeing the lights with her family.

“Every year we visit the festival of lights at Stone Hedge in Tunkhannock. We take hot cocoa and popcorn while we ride along the path as a family.”

Senior Madison Carpenter says although she likes Christmas, her favorite holiday is Halloween.

“Halloween is my favorite because I like the decorations and trick or treating, but my favorite part–my favorite tradition– is watching scary movies.”

Sophomore Brooke Kelly’s favorite holiday is also Christmas.

“The best part, and what I really enjoy, is spending time with my family.”

“The best part is going to my grandma’s for breakfast Christmas morning.”

BR sophomore Emma Davis says her favorite holiday is Thanksgiving.

“I love getting together with family and acknowledging all the things we are lucky to have. Things that we almost take for granted when we don’t think about how thankful we are for them. Also the food is absolutely amazing.”

“Also, we have a Thanksgiving tradition that I love,” says Davis, and that is we each share what we are thankful for.”

Junior Kelsey Wolfe’s favorite holiday is Christmas.

“I get to spend time with my family and friends and I also don’t have to worry about school work.”

Wolfe’s favorite tradition, she says: is “making cookies with my aunt and reading a book from under the Christmas tree every year.”

Junior Luke Shea says his favorite holiday is Christmas because he is “on break from school, surrounded by all my family and getting gifts.”

His favorite Christmas tradition is “getting McDonald’s breakfast when the whole family comes over Christmas morning.”
