The end-of-year formal dance season starts in April at Blue Ridge when the school will host the local life skills prom.

The dance, scheduled for April 14, 2023 from 10:30 to 1:30 a.m., is an annual event that local districts take turn hosting.

Blue Ridge life skills teacher Adele Bennet says the event allows each district’s high school life skills class to get together and have their own special prom.

Bennett has been the teacher of the life skills class for 12 years and says the start of this tradition predates her teaching job.

Approximately 58 kids from five school districts–Blue Ridge, Susquehanna, Mountain View, Lackawanna Trail and Montrose–will attend the life skills prom.

Bennett says her students look forward to dressing up and getting together with friends to dance.

“This event has to be one of my all-time favorites.  I love that each school can have their own students plan and set up for the event, and it allows them to celebrate with friends from other districts.  We are able to watch them all interact and engage with one another in a fun, social and magical event.  It is heartwarming,” says Bennett.
