Blood Drive

By:Madison Gelinger/Senior Writer

Blue Ridge recently had a blood drive this past week. It was successful and lots of blood was donated. Just one donation of blood can save up to three lives and, with the demand for blood being so high, this blood drive is helping a lot of people. Every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood and with all the people that donated lives are being saved.

I gave blood at this blood drive and it was quick and easy and made me happy knowing my blood will be saving lives. The process is simple: you get there, sign in and answer questions and get your blood tested for a quick screening procedure to ensure a blood or plasma donor has an acceptably high blood count for donating blood or blood components. Then the blood is taken from where it was donated to hospitals where it is used accordingly.
