Marissa Fiske and Brooke Kelly are juniors at Blue Ridge High School. They started pre-k together and intend to graduate together in 2025.
Has anyone been with you through it all? We have been around each other for our whole life. For example we grew up, walked, and talked together.
Our friendship started out at our babysitter’s Karen Gudykunst, New Milford. We wore the same shoes. We had some matching clothes. We even had the same dolls. Whenever we could, we hung out and had sleepovers.
We went to NYC quite a few times and got American Girl Dolls. That was our favorite store. In fact, we went back to get our dolls new clothes and accessories every time we went to the city.
In addition, our mothers got very close over the years. They constantly planned trips together and often went to get their nails done together.
Parents’ favorite memories
Marissa’s mom, Shauna, said, “My favorite memories are of when I took you guys to NYC and we went to the American doll store.”
Brooke’s mom, Jolene, said, “My favorite memory of Brooke and Marissa is taking them to the Syracuse Zoo when they were six years old. They both wore pink tank tops and were so cute! They enjoyed spending the day together checking out all the animals.”
We also asked our parents if they think we will always be connected.
Shauna said, “Yes, you guys have had a bond since daycare, and regardless of what time has done you guys remain close.”
Jolene said, “Yes I do think the girls will always have a connection. They will never forget all the good times they spent together as kids.”
We asked how our parents if they know of anyone else who has been friends since they were babies.
Shauna said she only knows two people who have been friends that long–and she knows a lot of people.
Jolene said that she couldn’t think of anyone that has had a friendship since they were toddlers.
As for us, we will probably be friends when we are feeble and need canes.
