Baseball/Softball Recap

By: Gehrig Dibble/Junior Writer and Morgan Thomas/Social Media Manager

Baseball finished their season with a 2-12 record with wins coming against Forest City, 7-3, and Carbondale, 10-9.  Despite their struggles during the regular season, they still have some hopes for the playoffs.  The Raiders Playoff game is still undecided at the moment will have a chance to upset one of the top teams in the district 2 PIAA class AA tournament.  They have still had some bright spots on their team.  Brendan Marvin and Landen Witbeck have combined for 43 strikeouts, while Michael Smith and Conner Sauer both contributed 12 each. Gehrig Dibble has the best batting average on the team with a .500 and Brendan Marvin is right behind with .474. Hopefully with these two key players returning next year, the Blue Ridge Raiders can grow and improve going into 2025.

Softball is nearing the end of their season with a record of 8-7 with one game to play excluding playoffs. Their final game is against Mountain View on May 16th and the first round of the district playoffs will be the following week. Raiders softball has a number of great batting averages including an outstanding .590 by freshman Hailey Carpenetti and two homeruns. Some other notable players are Kendall Farthing batting .422, Leigha McCain batting .407 with three homeruns, and Abby Laude batting .325 with a homerun. They are led on the mound by Abby Laude with 138 strikeouts on the year and a 8-7 record.  They will look to make some noise in district playoffs and to see how far their 7 seniors will finish off their career.
