Band and Chorus 2022 Florida Trip

By: Breanna Derrick/ New and Content Manager

This year, the Blue Ridge Band, chorus, and I went to Florida for a fun five-day trip. On the first day of the week, we woke up around 3 AM and got to the school around 3:30 to head off to the airport. This was one of the hardest parts of the trip because, to be honest, I hardly ever wake up at 7 am to come to school most mornings. It all turned out to be worth it when we arrived at Cocoa Beach down in Florida. We ate lunch, swam in the ocean, pool, and hot tub, and a few of us played on the pirate ship that was there. I had a lot of fun when I slid down those slides; it made me feel like a kid again. On the way to the hotel, we passed a rocket ship taking off into outer space. It was super cool. At the hotel, we all played games, swam in the pool, and watched a movie.

The next day, we woke up at 7 am to head off to Magic Kingdom. From 9 am to 9 pm, we spent the day riding rides, waiting in line, and eating. To be honest, it was one of the best days of my life. That night, we all gathered in the center of the park to watch the fireworks show. It brought tears to my eyes. There was something so magical about the way it made me feel.

On the third day, the band went to practice their music at… In the meantime, the chorus slept in until 7 am. I woke up to go to our concert at Disney Springs. After the concert, which was a blast, we went to Epcot for the rest of the day. We all rode the Soarin’ together. We ended the night with another firework show.

On day four, we went to Hollywood Studios. Spending the day there, we all enjoyed ourselves. We left at 4 and went back to the hotel to pack our bags for the next day. After we finished packing our bags and everything, we all hung around the hotel and used up all of our amenities.

Last but not least, we woke up and hung around the hotel for a bit, and afterward, we headed off to the airport around noon. At 4:20 PM, we took off from Florida and headed back up north, landing in Allentown, PA at around 7 PM.

I would personally like to thank all of the chaperones who devoted their time to taking us on this lovely trip. It meant the world to me.

This was the best trip ever. We all made memories to last a lifetime.
