What Do Teachers Think About the 2020-2021 School Year?

By: Breanna Derrick/Junior Writer

Due to Covid-19 there have been a few changes to how schools had to change things for the school year. A few of the changes include wearing masks in the hallway, and the classroom. Teachers must clean and sanitize between classes, and students must keep their masks on at their desks, but are allowed mask breaks. Some schools have decided to either stay remote, or go back to a 5-day schedule with everyone, or do have a Hybrid schedule (A-day, B-day type of schedule). We at Blue Ridge High School have decided to go with the Hybrid schedule. The teachers go to school the full week and have had some positive things to say about all of it.

High school biology teacher, Mrs. Shirley Motyka, has shared that “It is definitely a challenge because it is a new way of school. However, I appreciate the leaders keeping safety a priority.”

High school history teacher, Mr. Greg Bitner, stated that “Although it would be nice to have everyone here 5 days a week, we seem to be doing the best we can with the situation we’re in.”

Mrs. Lucrecia Jesse, our high school Spanish teacher, added that, “It’s challenging to provide learning opportunities for all, but as time goes on virtual teaching and learning are coming together.”
