On April 30th, the Blue Ridge track team had their last meet of the season on home grounds against Montrose. This night was bittersweet for seniors Emma Mangel, Jessi Spencer, Lizzie Mollo and Noah Seamans as they gave it their all for the last time as high school track athletes at Blue Ridge.
Elizabeth Mollo was escorted by her family members, her father– Jason Mollo, Ed and Kathy Arnold (who Lizzie says are like parents to her) and her aunt, Kim Mollo. Mollo has been a track member for three years and will be greatly missed!
Jessica Spencer was escorted by her parents Melissa and Richard Spencer. Spencer has been a devoted track member for six years.
Emma Mangel was escorted by her mother Kathleen Mangel and coach John Onion. This was a bittersweet moment for Mangel as she told the Raider Reader that, “Coach Onyon has been a father figure for me all throughout my years of track.”
Noah Seamans was escorted by his parents Justin and Nicole. This was Seamans’ first year of track to help in get in shape for the army. He has been a great impact on the boys varsity track team.
Lauren Canfield was escorted by her parents Christina Wallace and Christopher Canfield. Canfield has been the track manager for three years and her skill and dedication will be missed!
Overall, the senior night was filled with happy and sad tears as peers, faculty, and family watched the athletes perform on their home track for the last time of their high school careers.
