By: Elliot Maginley/Senior Writer

Space, in today’s world millions on millions of people still have unanswered questions about the unknown we call “space”. Thousands of organizations public and private try to unlock new ways and discover the unknown. One, in particular, is SpaceX. SpaceX is a private American aerospace manufacturer and space transportation service. Founded in 2002 to revolutionize space technology with the ultimate goal of enabling people to live on other planets, SpaceX is one of the world’s fastest-growing providers of launch services. Having over 100 missions to its manifest representing $12 billion on contracts.

A big advancement that SpaceX did was create SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft. Built and made in March 2019, Dragon is designed to fly numerous cargo resupply missions to the International Space Station under a series of Commercial Resupply Service contracts. The dragon is also designed to carry humans to space and will soon fly astronauts under NASA’s Commercial Crew Program. SpaceX now is working on the next generation of fully reusable launch vehicles that will be the most powerful ever built, capable of carrying humans to Mars and other destinations around the solar system.

Since 2008 SpaceX, again and again, surprised the world with new advancements and technology. Starting with having “Falcon 1” be the very first privately developed liquid fuel rocket to reach Earth’s Orbit, to now in 2019 developing the Crew Dragon docked with an International Space Station on March 3 at 3:02 a.m. PST.

SpaceX has so many creations and they’re changing space technology every year. Students within Blue Ridge High School are interested in the idea of traveling to mars and being able to start a civilization there. SpaceX is the future.
