This year, Andrew Merrell is a senior at Blue Ridge. Throughout his high school career, Andrew has participated in things such as FBLA, prom committee, and Leo Club. Andrew works after school at his family business, Mess’ fireworks store, and additionally on a farm.

Andrew’s favorite memory from high school is “when Brock Gumaer, Adam Roe, Sam Cosmello and myself used to play golf everyday in Mr. Lewis’ class in 10th grade.”

Merrell said his favorite thing about high school has been “missing the first week of school every year to go on vacation.”

Andrew said that his favorite teacher was Mr. Orner, in 7th grade, because he loved the way he taught, and felt like he learned a lot from him.

Regarding underclassmen, Andrew says “Don’t care too much about the little things, because your whole life is in front of you.”

Andrew is planning on attending Broome Community College and transferring to Binghamton University to major in Business Management, to ultimately continue the family fireworks store.
