Quilt Project – Ms. Bennett’s Class

By: Madison Welsted/Content Editor

Ms. Bennett’s class has been working hard this holiday season on a special project for our community. They worked together to sew lap quilts for the neighborhood nursing homes, as well as some quilts for the local animal shelter. In total, they were able to make 24 quilts to donate to those in need.

The students overall enjoyed their project, although their favorite part was most likely getting to visit the animal shelter and meeting the puppies there. They were also lucky enough to visit a resident who was about to turn one hundred years old!

Next year, Ms. Bennett’s class plans to take on a similar project and continue sewing quilts for the nursing homes. However, they are going to work on bandannas for the animal shelter.

The process of sewing these quilts strengthened the students’ sewing skills, but even more impacting were the lessons they learned about giving and being able to share a little bit of joy to those who really appreciated it this holiday season.
