New Dollar General: More Than Meets the Eye

By: Luke Updyke/Photojournalist

Thrown together products, messed up shelving, displaced items… this is the way most of us view dollar stores nowadays. These characteristics seem to be true quite often, but with a lot to do in not a lot of time,  we don’t take the time to say anything about it or to try fixing it.

Enter: the “new” New Milford Dollar General.

Now, I am generally not one to sit down and talk about a new dollar store placed 4 miles from a previously existing one, but I must say – I was blown away when I entered this place. It is certainly not your average dollar store.

When you first enter, a produce section – yeah that’s right, a produce section – thrives to your right. Assorted fruits and vegetables are available for either a quick grab or a delicate recipe. Further up the isles, an automotive section awaits. After this, dry foods, cereals and such can be found, followed by home decor and clothing. The entire left wall of the new Dollar General store holds a freezer section, where frozen vegetables, fruits, ice creams and other essentials can be found.

Vaulted ceilings add to the unique appeal and allow a more spacious feel. Both its large size and vast amount of products provide customers with a one-stop shop for all of their necessities and needs. Not to mention the fact that the prices are low enough to confidently buy and confidently save.

Check out the “new” New Milford Dollar General for more specifics and to see what all the fuss is about!
