Final New Movies of 2017

Coming up in the final months of 2017 there are many new movies being released.  In the recent few weeks, movies such as, The Greatest ShowmanCocoJumanji: Welcome to the JungleFerdinandStar Wars: The Last JediPitch Perfect 3, and Father Figures will be released to theaters.

Coming up on December 20th, The Greatest Showman, arrives in theaters, starring Hugh Jackman, Zendaya, Zac Efron, and many others.  The movie features a man who loses his original job, and stumbles upon a groundbreaking business idea through his little daughters’ toy.

The weekend after Thanksgiving the cartoon of Coco, was released.  This movie had shed a new light on the Day of the Dead, a main focal point of Mexican culture.  This cartoon focuses on an aspiring musician who travels through the Land of the Dead to end the ban on music in his family.  Editor-in-Chief, Jessica Marvin, wrote a great, information filled article on the movie Coco.  

Another movie coming up on the 20th of December, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, stars, Jack Black, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan.  This movie is a remake of the original Jumanji with the late Robin Williams.  This movie is all about four teenagers who find an old video game in a basement and when they try to play it they get sucked into the game as the avatars they chose.

In about a week and a half, on December 15th another cartoon, Ferdinand, will be released.  Starring the voice of John Cena as Ferdinand.  Ferdinand is a bull who has such a big heart but the people misunderstand him as vicious, and Ferdinand has to try to get back to his family after the people took him away.

Another movie being released on the 15th of December is Star Wars: The Last Jedi, starring Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, and Adam Driver.  Another remake of the original Star Wars series.  In this movie, Rey joins Luke Skywalker and others to unlock the secrets of the Force and its past.

Closer to Christmas, on the 21st of December, the final movie in the Pitch Perfect trilogy will be released.  Starring Anna Kendrick, Ruby Rose, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld, Brittany Snow, Elizabeth Banks and many more.  In this movie the Bellas are already split up after college but, come back together for one last performance where they face something they’ve never faced before.

Finally, Father Figures will be released on the 22nd of December.  This movie depicts two fraternal twins who learn the truth about their “deceased” father that their mother kept from them and embark on a journey to find him.  Father Figures stars Owen Wilson, Christopher Walken, Ed Helms, Glenn Close and many more.
