Cross Country Runners Break School Records on Senior Night

By: Tyler Hillard/Co-Editor-In-Chief

On September 24th, the Raiders faced off against numerous schools including Elk Lake, Montrose, Faith Mountain, Mid Valley, Scranton, and West Scranton. The cross country meet was very exciting for a few of our very own Blue Ridge Runners.

Jack Condon set a new school record of 18:23 on the 3.1-mile course. Also, Max Ksenich set a new JH school record of 10:42 (1.6 Mile Course) and Emma Piechocki set a girl’s JH course record of 12:18 (1.6 Mile Course). Varsity Girls tallied the most team wins against Mid Valley, West Scranton, and Elk Lake. Led by Gia Fiore in 14th place with a time of 23:58 beating out Elk Lakes number 3 runner.  Ashley Tomassacci took the win by breaking a tie, beating the number 6 Elk Lake runner!

The Cross Country team also celebrated senior night along with the records. Seniors include; KayLeen Conklin, Jack Condon, and Giavonna Fiore.

We asked Jack Condon on how it felt to break such an extraordinary record on his special night, “It was extremely exciting to finally break the record after missing it last year, during the race I keep my mind focused on getting the finish line faster than the time. Coach Nebzydoski and I have focused on this night almost all season and it made for a very special night and race.”

Continue to cheer on our runners throughout the rest of the season!
