Blue Ridge Sings for the Binghamton Devils

The Binghamton Devils played the Utica Comets on Wednesday, November 6th, and the Blue Ridge High School Choir performed the Star Spangled Banner for the second year in a row. The opportunity was brought up by Ms. Amy Zakarauskas in early October and the students, especially the students who had gone last year, jumped at the chance.

Before heading to the arena, students went to the Oakdale Mall for dinner. Before Blue Ridge sang the National Anthem, the Owego Eighth Grade Select Choir sang God Bless America.

Ms. Zakarauskas was ecstatic with our performance, saying that “there were a lot more students interested in going to the game this year, and it made a huge difference when it came to how they sounded. It was great.”

On the ride back to the school Ms. Zakarauskas asked if the class wanted to sing at the game again next year and was met by a roar of “yes”.

Sophomore Isabelle Edwards said that she “thought it was a blast,” and “I think we did really great!”

Personally, I loved going on this trip. It was funny watching how everyone interacted and how, even after such a long day, they still sang the whole way back. I’m glad that this was my first trip as a student at Blue Ridge.
